Evaluation of Building Energy Savings Achievable with an Attached Bioclimatic Greenhouse: Parametric Analysis and Solar Gain Control Techniques

Bioclimatic solar greenhouses are passive systems of relevant interest in the building sector, as they allow reduction energy needs related to air-conditioning. The aim this work is analyze thermal behavior a bioclimatic greenhouse attached residential building. It equipped with photovoltaic blinds (SPBs) manage inputs and produce electricity. Automated control implemented activate vents SPBs. parametric performance analysis conducted using dynamic simulation software EnergyPlus allowed evaluation influence glass type, mass, size, ventilation location. results show how automation allows maximization heat exchange throughout year, leading consumption even during summer period. Analyses for some cities Mediterranean area that maximum saving obtained greater than 13%; addition, shading contributes production more 1000 kWh/year
